Wrap-up

Well, here I am to wrap a couple of things up. I forgot to post the movie quote answers (nobody guessed on them anyhow...), I forgot to answer that last question in the literary character quiz, and I promised to tell you what I did with my book vase

First up: The movie quotes

1. "Why can't they just say, 'go to this place, and here is the treasure; spend it wisely'?"

Riley Poole in National Treasure

2. "She batted them pretty little eyes at you, and you fell for it like an egg from a tall chicken!"

Tex in Charade

3. "I don't believe that intelligence can be accurately quantified, but I do have an IQ of 187, an eidetic memory, can read 20,000 words per minute.
[beat]
Yes, I am a genius."

Dr. Spencer Reid in Criminal Minds

4. "Just stop calling it a mushroom."

Victor in Letters to Juliet

5. Character one: "Look at that demure little head. And all of us wondering what's inside it."
Character two: We'll find out soon enough.

Duchess of Sutherland and Lord Melbourne in Young Victoria

~*~*~

Next: I forgot about number twenty-one in the quiz I did the other day. Oops!

21. Margaret Hale and Beth March reluctantly team up to save the world from the threat posed by Inigo Montoya's sinister secret organization. Lady Catherine volunteers to help them, but it is later discovered that she is actually a spy for Inigo. Meanwhile, Inigo has kidnapped Edmond Dantes in an attempt to force their surrender. Following the wise advice of Molly Gibson, they seek out Jane Eyre, who gives them what they need to complete their quest. What title would you give this fiction?

The Wayward Spaniard

~*~*~

Last: I found something to put in my vase! A collection of feathers that I found at Michaels. There were so many great things that were small enough to fit in the vase, but this is what felt right to me. =)

Hello, 2012!

One of my resolutions this year was to both journal and blog more. So here I am, practically a week into the new year, finally sitting down to type up a blog post. I'm *still* lost as to what to blog since I'm so far behind in everything I was blogging. So I'm just going to start fresh! Here are my blog goals for this coming week:

  • Post at least three times
  • Reply to comments that have been waiting here... forever
  • Comment on all of my favorite blogs at least once this week
Not a lot, but something to look forward to, I suppose! =) And just for kicks, here's a few movie quotes for ya'll to guess. I'll post the answers on Saturday.
1. "Why can't they just say, 'go to this place, and here is the treasure; spend it wisely'?"
2. "She batted them pretty little eyes at you, and you fell for it like an egg from a tall chicken!"
3. "I don't believe that intelligence can be accurately quantified, but I do have an IQ of 187, an eidetic memory, can read 20,000 words per minute...
[pause]
Yes, I am a genius."
4. "Just stop calling it a mushroom."
5. Character one: "Look at that demure little head. And all of us wondering what's inside it."
Character two: We'll find out soon enough.

That's all for now, folks!

Scraps in my Workbasket Blog Party

I saw this quiz and decided to do it as part of my getting back into blogging. I don't mean for my blog to become just a bunch of quizzes and giveaways, but I figure it's a good way to get back into things. =)
{1} when you think of "old movies",  what immediately comes to mind?
Jimmy Stewart. =D And a lot of movies - my favorite probably being It's a Wonderful Life.

{2} who is one of your favorite film or literary heroes (or heroines) and why?
Heroes... Colonel Brandon. Because he's gentle and kind and a man of action, not just a man of talk and intentions.

....................................................
....................................................

Heroines... Wow, I have a lot of favorites. I guess I'll just say Jo March for now. I love how honest she is and the fact that she's not afraid to be herself.
{3} if you could live in a movie, which one would it be and why?
Boy oh boy is this one tough! I guess Emma. I like the dresses and the characters. The dances and the estates. In the end, I'd prolly wanna come out of the movie and live my own life, though. =)

{4} music has changed a lot since 1900 - which "modern" type of music is your favorite?
Not really sure about this one...
{5} any songs you'd like to share with us? (lyrics, video, etc.)
I could share the Duck Song because it makes me laugh... But I guess I'll share the song I have in my head right now instead:

{6} if your life had soundtrack, what would it sound like?
Depends what I'm doing! Adventurous sometimes, calm at other times. A mix of Dear Frankie and Pirates of the Caribbean, I guess. hahaha
{7} when do you start counting down till your birthday?
I guess I just count down each month from August until my birthday. I don't think about it a lot or anything... just on the 14th of each month. =D
{8} what makes your birthday special?
It's Valentines Day. =D And I have simply incredible friends and family!
{9} do you ever wish you were born in a different month?
Meh... Not really

and finally...

{10} pick and post five words to describe your personality - you can add a description under each if you like.
Reliable - Maybe not 100% of the time, but most of the time. If I make a commitment to someone, I do my best to fulfill it.

Imaginative - This is probably one of my best qualities, even though it's my worst character trait. It helps me relate to other people, but I also tend to get lost in my own little world.

Changeable - I like to blend in. Sometimes I am consciously making decisions to act in a manner that will (in my mind) make myself more agreeable to those around me... other times I realize that I'm acting/talking like other people without thinking about it.

Observant - Another good/bad thing. Sometimes I notice stuff that is useful (where someone leaves their iPod, where a store is off of the highway) and other times I notice stuff that I shouldn't. =P

Confusing - I guess I don't really even need to go into detail here. Just look at the first and third words that I used to describe myself! =P

Fine Eyes

I know some of you are tired of my movie stuff, but others are enjoying it... so I'm going to do a movie-ish post today. =)

I saw this idea this morning and thought I'd take a whack at it myself. It's a quiz based off of a line (or three) from Pride and Prejudice.

[N]o sooner had [Mr. Darcy] made it clear to himself and his friends that [Miss Elizabeth Bennet] hardly had a good feature in her face, than he began to find it was rendered uncommonly intelligent by the beautiful expression of her dark eyes.
Which leads to his saying to Caroline Bingley...
"I have been meditating on the very great pleasure which a pair of fine eyes in the face of a pretty woman can bestow."
And so on... Caroline mercilessly teasing Darcy about "fine eyes" at several intervals throughout the book.

After that rather long prelude, we finally come to the point. How many of these "fine eyes" can you recognize? Whoever has the highest score on Saturday morning wins.

Scoring as follows: Name the movie for 1 point, the character for 2 points, and the actor/actress for 3 points.

There you have it! Toodles!

Fallapalooza Blog Party

Two of my fellow bloggers, Lindsay and Haley, have joined up for the Fallapalooza Blog Party, and I figured I should give it a go, too! =) A couple reasons for this would be
  1. I love fall. It's my favorite season!
  2. I like to blog, and blog party quizzes are quite fun!
  3. I always loved the Sugar Creek Gang series, in which is a character called Snatzerpazooka... and Fallapalooza reminded me of that. =D
Anyhow, on to the quiz!

1. Ring! Ring! You receive a phone call from a national sweepstakes organization saying that you have won a life-time supply of your favorite beverage!! What would that drink be?
Right now I'd say Knudsen's Apple Cider

2. If you could live in a Jane Austen novel, which book would you pick? What character would you be?
I think I'd pick to live in Emma because I just love the characters and the difference between who they are and who they are perceived to be. The character I would pick to be would probably be Anne Elliot because it just makes me happy how Captain Wentworth never forgets her and never stops loving her.

3. What is your theme song, that favorite song that absolutely matches you?
I can't say that this song "absolutely matches" me... but you could say that (part of) it is my theme. =)

4. You are trapped on a deserted island. Your only supplies are the clothes you have on, and a box with five things in it. What are those five things?
  1. A bottle of water
  2. A big bag of trail mix or some other snack
  3. A book to read
  4. My iPod
  5. Chapstick

5. Chocolate or Caramel?
Must. Have. Chocolate.

6. Vacation! If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Pemberley or Prince Edward Island

7. If forced to do one of the two, which would you do: sky diving or scuba diving? Why?
Scuba diving. I love ocean creatures! (For the most part, I guess)

8. Favorite TV show, and why?
What's with all the hard questions? I have a hard time picking favorites. Either Sue Thomas, FBEye or Adam 12. Sue Thomas because I love FBI type shows and it's the only one I've found that's clean. I also love learning sign language from the show. Adam 12 because I love cop shows, old shows, and I just really like how it's based on stuff that really happens in a cop's life. Not to mention **ahem** I kinda think Kent McCord isn't bad looking. LOL

9. Are you a coffee and donuts sorta lady, or a tea and scones type of gal?
Ewww... no coffee, thanks! I'll go for tea and scones any day.

10.The time machine has finally been created, and you are the first to be able to use it! What era would you travel too?
Soooooo tough, this one. Probably Elizabeth Gaskell's time or the 1930s-50s. =D

11. What is the last movie you watched?
The Inheritance

12. Ding-dong!!! Your favorite actor/singer/celebrity is at your front door! Who would it be?
I don't know that I have a favorite. =)

13. What was your absolute favorite toy as a baby?
As a baby... Probably either my stuffed bunny or my stuffed poodle. I had both with me all the time! (I still have the poodle, and I think my sister has the bunny)

14. What types of blogs do your like best? (examples: DIY, cooking, journal, ect.)
Personal blogs that tell about everyday life

15. What is your favorite Bible verse, your "life verse?"
Isaiah 25:1
