“What if you knew beyond a doubt what was going to happen tomorrow? Sure, I know it’s crazy… but what if you did? Whether you’d be rich, or poor; a hero, or a loser; lucky in love, unlucky in life. What would you do? What if, by some magic, you found the power to really change things? People, events, maybe even your life? Would you even know where to start? Maybe you can’t know. Until it happens…”

*~*

I haven’t watched much Early Edition - there’s a language issue with the show. But I always thought that it was a VERY cool show. At one point, I wished that I could be the one that got tomorrow’s newspaper today.
Some of you may be lost at this point because you have no clue what Early Edition is. So let me backtrack a bit. Early Edition is a show that ran from 1996-2000. Gary Hobbs is the main character, and each episode shows him as he tries to save the lives of people who are poisoned, drowned, in car accidents, who attempt suicide, etc. How does he do it? He gets tomorrow’s newspaper. Today. The newspaper includes all of the details he needs. When. Where. How.
Gary’s friend Chuck is constantly wanting Gary to use the newspaper to advantage. Making bets would become very profitable if you already knew the outcome of a game. But Gary steadfastly refuses. The paper is not for personal gain.
Now back to what I said earlier - I used to wish that such a thing could happen to me. The truth is, it HAS happened! I do know the future. I have my Bible, and know the future of all of the people in the world based on whether or not they know Christ. My problem is that I’m selfish - like Chuck. Because I know the truth, I’ve taken care of myself. But I’m not helping others. I’m not trying to stop people from going to a fate far worse than a car accident. Millions of times more painful than being trapped in a burning building. I’m not telling others that they are going to spend eternity in Hell!

"But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words. "

I don’t know when. But I do know where. I do know who. I do know what. So the question I pose to you is:

What are you doing with your Early Edition?
