What a Mess...

I'm in the middle of changing some stuff around, and the template I want isn't working... my sidebar is all out of order, etc etc etc

So... please put up with me as I'm going through construction. I may end up keeping this template, I may not. Who knows.

Blessings Undeserved

People make mistakes. I make mistakes.

All the time.

I tend to make the same excuse for others as well as myself. "We're only human," I say, "Of course we can't be perfect."

And it's true. Not a one of us can be perfect until we reach Heaven.

But that doesn't mean we shouldn't try.

This past week I have become increasingly aware of my selfishness, my complaining, and my general lack of concern for anything that doesn't immediately affect my own satisfaction and comfort. My apathy, if you want to put it simply.

Something else I've noticed?

My Lord.

I grumbled and groaned and decided I didn't have time to read my Bible.

He gave me a productive day and an opportunity to bless others when I was so focused on myself.

I whined and complained about tasks that needed to be done and did not apply myself wholeheartedly.

He sent someone to praise me for ... a job well done?

I carried my burdens, not willing to share them with Him, though He was willing to take them.

He sent me a friend to talk to.

All week it seemed as though every time my mood or my heart was wrong, God sent me what I wanted anyhow. Or what I needed. The guilt of praise I didn't deserve. The blessing that comes from helping others when I wanted to look only at myself. The companionship of an earthly friend when I forgot my Heavenly Friend.

Did I deserve any of it?

Not a chance.

Yet my Lord blessed me.

How has He blessed you?

Coat Love

Okay... I've been trying to convince myself that I'm not one of those insane people that has a fetish for a particular item of clothing. Well, I guess I am one of those people after all.

Women and shoes get thrown together a lot, and I'll admit that I have more than one friend who's into shoes. I have friends who do purses, shoes, t-shirts, hats, etc. And I thought they were crazy to want so many varieties of one thing.

Now I realize that I'm kinda getting the same way. With jackets and coats. Unfortunately (or perhaps FORTUNATELY), most jackets and coats are outrageously expensive, so my closet isn't completely loaded. My wish list is loaded, though. Especially when it comes to trench coats. Look at these beauties!

I'm not sure that I would look good in the yellow, but the style is *awesome*, is it not? It makes me think of Captain Wentworth, therefore jacking the coolness level up some billion points. =P

Totally awesome. My friend Mary is the one who introduced me to this Nancy Drew style jacket. I am going to be looking for it on eBay for awhile until I maybe actually get it! =D (yeah... in my dreams)

This sweet little coat cannot be found anywhere. Or anywhere I looked, I guess. It used to be available in camel and navy, and isn't it just adorable? LOVE.

I can't find this one, either. Other than this picture from a news article on the fact that trench coats never go out of style. If any of you have a clue where it came from, let me know! I really want to find an adorable affordable trench. Do those three words even go together?

So yeah... Confessions of a trench lover. =D

Toodles!

Bits and Pieces

Hello! It's me again! I thought that I might just open a little window into my current life for ya'll. =D And maybe throw in a couple of movie quotes for you to guess at the end. I was reminded of a favorite movie quote yesterday and wanted to see how many of you know it. lol

I'm at the library right now. I'm going to check out about a dozen books, so I'm going to have to restrain myself some and make sure that they last me more than a week. =P Right now I am reading books by Ted Dekker. Anyone else read him? I really respect an author like that who can keep track of what he's doing. To have three different sets all intersecting and not mess up is a pretty big feat. I have only written a couple of books that were in chronological order, but it was hard keeping the facts straight even then!

I maxed out my internet time at the library, so right now I'm using my sister's time. Isn't it handy to memorize family member card numbers? LOL I might end up wanting to leave soon, though... the teen load is coming in. Ugh.

Actually, the boy right next to me is trying to figure out a rubiks cube between websites rather than texting or playing trashy games. Wonders never cease!

Right now I'm listening to Josh Groban's latest album Illuminations. What gorgeous songs! I don't like all of them, but some of them are amazing. I love War at Home. I think I cried the first couple times I listened to it. "You see these hands, they're a million strong..."

Hmmmm... what else is happening? Oh. I'm playing offertory at church on Wednesday night. I kinda have a problem there. See, I like the song the way it's written, but my piano teacher prefers it to be changed a little. So what shall I do? Playing as written is certainly easier, but as my piano teacher knows more music than I and is also my authority, should I do what she wants?

That one's kinda a no-brainer, isn't it? =P

On Friday night we had a bunch of friends over for a game night. It was a ton of fun! We got a new game called... Buzz Word? Yeah. Buzz Word. Awesome game, that one! All of my blog readers should come over and we can all play it together! ;)

Anyhow... there's a teeny tiny peek into my life right now. Tata for now!

P.S. Three movie quotes for you to figure out:

1. "Would you like to stay for dinner?"
"Would you like to stay forever?"
2. "Look. You're really cute, but I can't understand what you're saying."

3. "Blast this wretched pen!"

The gum chewing girl,
and the cud chewing cow,
they are alike,
yet different somehow.

it's the thoughtful expression,
on the face of the cow.

How to Train Your... Swap a DVD Account

I know I've mentioned Paperback Swap multiple times on here. It happens to be one of my favorite things ever! I have gotten so many books for so little money and it's also fun 'cause I like getting stuff in the mail. Well, pbs has a sister-site - swapadvd.com. I have used this site *much* less, a grand total of... three time, I believe. First to get Love Comes Softly, then Love's Enduring Promise. The last time I used my account was to get Fireproof.

So yeah, we're talkin' that I don't use it much.

BUT... I did have one credit left. And one DVD on my wish list. The 2008 Sense and Sensibility was the only movie I thought we wanted, so that one last credit was reserved and I was done DVD swapping. Or that's what I thought.

I must have changed my mind and some point and forgotten.

Because I got an email saying that How to Train Your Dragon had been mailed to me! What the schnitzel?!

  1. I do not recall putting it on my wish list
  2. My account was set to have me approve requests before they went through
  3. That one last credit was for Sense and Sensibility!!!
I logged in to see if the email was lying. It wasn't. My account had been changed to automatically request any DVD that came up, HtTYD was on my wish list under "en route to me", and I had zero credits for Sense and Sensibility.

I like (most of) HtTYD... and the soundtrack is one of my favorites ever (though I have yet to meet a soundtrack that tops Dear Frankie). =D So in a sense I'm glad to have the DVD... but I would really like to know how it got on my wish list and how my account settings got changed.

I must have done it all myself.

Yup, I'm losing it.

Youtube Tuesday - Alarm

Betcha this guy will get out of bed as soon as he hears his alarm next time. LOL (This video was shown at our church on New Year's Eve when we had a clips and quips night.)

P.S. Sorry I haven't been blogging a lot. Again.
